Zoom Classes
Note: These classes will not be recorded.
Prepare for Class
Watch this video: How to Join a Zoom Meeting.
Download and install the free Zoom application at least one day prior to your first class.
Choose the download option that best fits your technology.
Unless you use an iPad or mobile device, the first option is most likely the one you’ll need.
What to Expect
You will receive the follow email messages from me before your class begins:
To register in your online class in Zoom you must click on the link provided in the first email I send you.
A weekly email invitation to join the Zoom class will be sent to you, two days prior to each class, with the Zoom link, meeting ID, and password required to join the class meeting.
Materials to read prior to class will be sent to you one day prior to each class.
Class begins at 10 AM and ends at 1:00 PM; I will be in Zoom by 9:45 AM.
Silence your cell phone during class.
For security reasons, after you join the meeting, you will be placed in a waiting room and until I accept you into the class. After you enter the meeting:
Turn on your audio.
Turn on your video camera.
You may login early, but if you step away from your computer before class starts, mute your audio and leave Zoom open.
Technical Notes
If you are unfamiliar with Zoom meetings, watch this video: How to Join a Zoom Meeting.
If you want to add a photo to your Zoom profile; see these instruction for profile settings.
Wear a headset or earbuds or close your door to help limit background noise during class.
Due to high Internet volume, your connection may be imperfect at times. Your connection may be better if you close all your web browsers.
If you have technical issues during class, quit Zoom and join the meeting again. If you still have trouble, shut down your computer, wait 1-2 minutes and then try again.
If you are still unsuccessful, call or text me (see my email for my contact information).
I encourage you to have your camera on during class, as this helps everyone feel connected.
If you need to step away from your computer during class, mute your audio and turn off your camera. It’s not necessary to notify the group before or after you do this.
Plan ahead so that you will not be multi-tasking during the call.
Do not drive while participating in any online class.
